Description of service
I received instruction and all materials to weave a basket which a plastic fruit and vegetable tray sits in. It took about 8 hours to complete. The bill was not broken out, so I am unsure how much went towards materials and how much went towards the instructions itself.
Review of Service
The service was great. The instructor taught how to do the weaving and the why behind each thing we did. She had all of the materials needed already in stock. She has books full of pictures of baskets that she has made and that she will give instruction for. She can tell what "level" you are ready for and steers you towards those projects accordingly.
Tips
Make sure the person you take instruction from has some experience in teaching. It can be difficult for even the best craftsperson to teach sometimes. I would defintely try to see examples of the instructor's work and talk to previous students before investing the time and money in a lesson. I would suggest picking a very small project to start with. This will let you know if you actually enjoy basketweaving, and it will also give you a chance to see if you "click" with the instructor's style of teaching.
