Description of service
A 60-minute full body massage, performed by a student of the nearby Massage School. The massage covered my neck, shoulders, back, legs, and feet fairly completely.
Review of Service
I was not expecting top notch quality, as I knew my practitioner was still learning, but he definately surprised me. Except for very tiny hesitation at certain points, which would only be noticible to a "massage junkie" like myself, it was the same quality I am used to receiving for full price massages. The practitioner was very intuitive and watched me for any flinches or "pull aways" that the body will naturally do if something is painful or pressure is uncomfortable, and he immediately switched techniques if he saw something was unpleasant for me. Students, while still learning, tend to be extremely aware of their craft because they have been learning it so recently - this is definately a plus in my experience.
Tips
Respect your practitioner! They are often extremely skilled, but it doesn't mean they are mindreaders - if something is painful or pressure uncomfortable, don't be afraid to speak up - it's your body, right? If you have a sore spot you'd like them to spend more time working on, like a shoulder or the lower back, tell them at the beginning of the session so they can plan their time out accordingly. And for goodness' sakes don't joke, hint, or ask for anything sexual - the only thing it's going to get you is removed from the office and permanently banned..I've heard horror stories from practitioners and I can't believe there's still tacky people out there that do that!
