Description of service
I had the regular student massage on average 1-2 times a month, over a six month period. I was able to request the same student because I liked her so much. She was very nice and laid back, and thoroughly pampered me every step of the way. I have had massages in the past and this student was just as good if not better than most of the massage therapists I have seen in the past.
Over time, as we got to know each other, I expressed interest in reiki and another student (training in reiki) started to join our massage sessions. So for the last couple of months I had a lymphatic massage AND a reiki session all at once, for the price of one!
It was particularly nice to have someone else keeping up with my overall health, and made it easy to exchange findings between the massage therapist and my chiropractor. I learned a lot about my body during this time.
Review of Service
I found out about this option last year and have been enjoying massages because I can now afford them! Everyone knows that a massage not only feels good but is beneficial to your long-term health. However, many people consider it a luxury and few people treat themselves outside of special occasions.
If this service is available in your city or town, it is worth searching out. I found out about it during my pregnancy while I was taking a prenatal yoga class that happened to take place inside of a massage school. This is a healing arts and massage school and there were posters everywhere advertising student massages available year round. The price captured my attention!
You can get a "relaxing full body lymphatic massage" for one full hour for only $30. This massage is administered by a student of massage at the school. All you have to do is call ahead and make an appointment. They also have a longer student massage that lasts 90 minutes with an advanced student for only $45.
The students seem especially eager to practice and told me over and over to tell my friends. The more practice the better! I was just glad to have found a place to have quality massages at an affordable rate (I am unemployed, a stay-at-home-parent).
Tips
Try looking for a student massage school in your town or city. Look under the yellow pages, call holistic centers, ask prenatal fitness program directors, even try calling the expensive spas and asking if there is a school in your area.
Good luck!
