Description of service
I paid a student local massage school $50 for a 50 minute massage. I gave the person who massaged me a $15.00 tip.
Review of Service
This was an okay massage. It was about what I'd expect from a student. I did try to give a lot of advice and preferences like "harder" or "slower" but the student didn't either hear me or didn't know how to vary from what they were taught. Halfway through the massage their teacher came in to supervise. They had a somewhat long conversation about what the student was doing wrong and what they were doing right. I found this really distracting but I guess that's part of what you get for going to a student.
Tips
First of all, make sure you find out of the student is allowed to accept tips. I had a different experience at a massage school once where I tipped the student and was later sent the money back as the student wasn't allowed tips. Second of all, try to be specific about the type of student you want. You don't always get a say in it but sometimes you do. Sometimes you can say you want a student who applies more pressure, or has more experience. It's worth a shot.
