the Cost of Municipal Water Service

I pay about $23 a month for water service for a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. There are two people living here, including myself. The water is provided by the city.

The water here is very good. I have had folks from out of town comment on how fresh and wonderful it tastes, one even described it as 'glacial'. I have, however, had trouble with the billing. I was once charged almost $2000 due to a meter glitch. I called to question it and it took 2 months to get cleared up. In that time I obviously did not pay the $2000 as it was an error. By the time they straightened it out I had accrued late fees for the 'unpaid' balance. I then spent another week getting those late fees removed. It was a pain but eventually got straightened out.

Keep on top of your bills. If there is an error, see if they can put some kind of hold on the balance while they look into it so you don't have a 'late fee' disaster like I did. Our company begins charing late fees if the bill is 10 days past due - which in my experience is earlier than most utilities. Keep an eye on this as late fees can really rack up.
