the Price of a Nanny

I hired a Nanny to be responsible for my two children while I was at work and/or on business trips. The Nanny was required to be with the children the entire time I was not able to be home, take them to school and pick them up, supervise homework, entertain when needed, and to make sure their laundry was done and their rooms were clean. A flat fee of $350 was paid per week for the above services. Anything extra or additional hours were negotiated as needed.

I was impressed with the quality of service I received because I hired a person with extensive background in this field. The relationship between the Nanny and the children was fantastic and family-like and allowed me to be comfortable about the care of my children when not at home. Sometimes additional hours and tasks were hard to negotiate. I thought I had excellent service for the cost being that my children were well taken care of, content and their homework and rooms were cleaned by the time I came home.

It's important that the personalities of the children and the Nanny "click" - that there is a match in interests and someone that is easy for them to communicate with. It's equally important that you consider only those that are truly interested and, if possible, have a background in being a Nanny. Always perform a background test as well as a driver's license check. I wish I had known how important it was to ensure there was some blend of personalities between the children and the Nanny before hiring.
