Description of service
This was a set of ballroom dancing lessons held in Los Angeles. The classes met once a week over the course of eight weeks, so while the up front cost seems large, it averaged out to less than a hundred dollars a lesson. Classes were small- usually about four or five couples maximum- and led by an experienced instructor. No costuming or the like was required, though for a final 'rehearsal' we were all encouraged to bring our own 'formal wear'- the studio did not provide this, nor did they offer a way to buy anything of the sort through them, so there was no pressure on that front. The instructor began the series of classes by going through the 'basics' for those who had never taken dance lessons before. Rhythm, foot patterns, holds, that sort of thing, which would carry through all the different dances we would do. And there were several different dances- all ballroom styles- such as the waltz, the foxtrot, etc.
Review of Service
The service was fairly good for the price. It would have been nice to have longer practices or time to rehearse the steps at the studio, but that was not an option with the program we chose.
Tips
Most dance studios will offer some form of 'introductory' evening where they let you have a free class to see if you'll enjoy the experience. Make sure to attend these- if you want to accomplish anything, you need to make sure it's something you'll definitely want to go to, and it's a very large expense if you decide three lessons in that the school doesn't suit your needs.
