Description of service
My dad and I took a joint ski lesson in December, each paying $75 for a one hour private lesson with the instructor. It was my first time skiing, so we went over to a small little slope (not even the bunny hill) and the instructor tried to teach some the basic principles of ski plowing and control. We also talked about how to walk up a hill, and some other little topics. The cost of lessons did not include lift tickets or rental skis.
Review of Service
The lesson we received was definitely lacking in quality. I think the ski facility we went to was not very well equipped to teach very beginning lessons. I have since taken lessons at other ski resorts with better reputations, and they were so much better. At other places, they had small chair lifts and then sections of the bunny hill where you could learn. That way you learned the workings of the lifts and felt like you were actually ON the mountain. While our instructor was certainly a good skier, I felt like he had never had any training in how to TEACH skiing, which is very different from just doing it yourself.
Tips
Look up some reviews online before you decide a place on where you want to ski. While some places might be great and cheap, a lot of times you get what you pay for, as was the case for us. Once you are a better skier, these cheap resorts are great, but until then, get some quality ski instruction to start off with.
