Description of service
The class was presented by the museum staff and was limited to 8 students between the ages of 10 and 14. It met once a week for 90 minutes and the cost included all materials and instruction sheets. Each participant also received an 8 x 10 color photo of their completed puppet.
Review of Service
The quality of the service was excellent and the two instructors were very well oriented to working with children. They explained and reviewed each phase of the project and advised but permitted the children to make all the final decisions concerning their puppet. They were able to keep the progress of the group pretty much on schedule and made it clear at the first class, parents could watch but not "help" in the construction.
The only problem I observed was that one parent who attended every class often tried to ask questions on his own. Perhaps one of the instructors should have taken him aside and again explained the rules of the class.
The class was well worth the cost and the sense of pride that my son felt upon completion was an added bonus.
Tips
Before enrolling a child in any class try to find the ages of the children in the calss and be sure that your child wants to attend the class. Remember, it is for the child and not you. Also, be sure that your child will be availalbe to attend all the sessions.
