Description of service
This included a pre-appointment to explain the procedure (which I didn't listen to as I should because I was too busy thinking of the horror of it all), the local (injected) anesthetic as well as "gas" and the procedure. I must admit that I'm not sure exactly what else happened as I was pretty well in "lala land".
Review of Service
I am not a big fan of dentists. Nothing personal, that's just how I am. I honestly expected to be in extreme pain during and afterwards, but thankfully I wasn't too aware of anything.
The dentist and his staff were extremely courteous, something that really surprised me, as I had really neglected my oral hygiene. I was extremely self conscious about my breath, the condition of my teeth, etc. The hygienist assured me that they had seen just about everything possible and that there were plenty of people that were even more petrified of dentists (and their procedures) than I was.
Tips
Set up appointments with local dentists just as a consultation. Spend some time talking to them and explaining your concerns. You should find that you are more "at ease" with some than others. Even if a dentist is very highly recommended, you must be sure that you feel trust with him.
The day of the appointment it is imperative to find someone to go with you. Even though they probably cannot be in the room with you, you ought to have some reassurance from the fact that they're out in the waiting room. You will also have to have them drive you home.
