Description of service
The standard fee for an overdraft is thirty five dollars per check or check card overage. The fee is usually automatically taken out of the account as soon as more money has been placed in the account. Fees can be disputed, waived, or reduced depending on the situation and the bank. If it is the first time you have encountered an over draft fee call the bank's 1-800 number and see if they will drop the fee for you. If they won't drop the fee ask to see if there is any way to have the fees reduced.
Review of Service
As unpleasant as an overdraft fee can be, it is better than having to pay for check collections fees.
Tips
In order to avoid paying overdraft fees it's imperative to check your account's balance before you make a purchase. There are some accounts that come with overdraft protection these are really good to have. It reduces the need to have to pay unnecessary fees associated with over-draft fees on a check. Another way to avoid having to pay overdraft fees is to set up a savings account that is linked to the checking account. That way if you go over on your checking money from your savings account is automatically transferred to cover the difference.
