Description of service
The services performed were euthanasia, cremation, and disposition of ashes. The price was in addition to services performed by the vet in the attempt to see if the dog could be saved. The cost of euthanasia was $40 and cremation and disposition of ashes was an additional $35. We felt the costs to be reasonable. Both the vet and the person handling the cremation were very kind, even sending sympathy cards!
Review of Service
Both the vet and the person responsible for cremation were very kind and treated our animal with respect. Our vet had handled medical and boarding of our dog all of its life. Putting the dog to sleep was our decision and was reached when it was certain that the dog would only live a few more days and would not live in comfort. The vet did not try to pressure us in deciding one way or the other. Shortly after cremation our dogs ashes were taken to the vet's ranch and spread under a large pine tree in a scenic spot. The vet showed us the location (there were horses near by and our dog loved horses). The service provided was very personal, professional and thoughtful and the process was quite satisfactory.
Tips
Let your vet know if you have any special requests regarding cremation of your pet. They should inquire as to whether you want the ashes. Since a pet is such a close friend I suggest that you have the ashes given to you unless the vet has a suggestion for their disposal that is satisfactory to you.
