Description of service
Two months (ended up being 9 lessons), 2.5 hours each, of watercolor painting instruction at local art gallery from the owner who is a recreational watercolor artist.
Review of Service
Very good. Main advantage was huge discount on any of the supplies that we would b eusing in the class. Materials were sold to us at cost, and I didn't mind paying for the instruction, as having classes for that many weeks meant that you were getting good feedback as you went along.
Class was very small, only six people, but once we had easels and so on set up, it felt pretty crowded; cosy, but I would have preferred not to feel quite so jammed in.
Instructor covered basic art concepts VERY quickly, focused more on techniques specific to watercolor painting, which is what I was there for.
Tips
Ask around for suggestions for painting lessons. Hard to tell if the person is a good teacher or not until it is too late.
Most places require you buy your supplies from them, either make sure you get a discount or ask for one.
If you know exactly what you are interested in, ask if it will be covered; even if you are more advanced, you might be better off taking a general class bcs with few people in it you get a lot of individual attention.
