Description of service
I went to an urgent care clinic when I had a cold that just would not go away. The cost for the doctor's visit was $95.00.
Review of Service
I'd had a cold for over a month that just was not getting any better. As I didn't have health insurance I went to an urgent care clinic near my home. They had a sliding scale based on income. I was in one of the higher income brackets so I paid the full $95.
You can't make appointments at this place so I was forced to sit in the waiting room for almost an hour until the doctor could see me. He was clearly very busy and under a lot of pressure but I still felt that he did the best he could in the situation. He did the normal heartbeat, blood pressure, etc. checks. He then looked in my mouth and took a swab from the back of my throat.
He prescribed me antibiotics and told me that if I didn't get better within a week to call back and he'd run a test on the swab from my throat. The medicine did work and I was very glad he gave it a chance to work before having to pay for him to run a test that would have ended up being unneccessary.
Tips
Be prepared to wait for quite a bit of time. If the doctor wants to run any costly tests, ask him if it's possible to wait and see if the test is necessary.
