Description of service
For the $800, I received one-on-one lessons with a trumpet teacher. He had been a High School music teacher and had been playing the trumpet since he was in school, so he was well qualified. Each lesson was an hour long, and usually included scales for the first ten minutes before rehearsing what songs he had given me. He would purchase books for me to use so that I could practice outside of the lessons. The breakdown of payment was $725 for 12 one-hour lessons and $75 for the books that he provided me with.
Review of Service
I am very pleased with the service provided, as I grew not only as a musician but as a person as well. My instructor dedicated that time solely to be with me and to help me develop my skill with the trumpet, and sometimes we went over the time allotted because he wanted to keep going. He assigned plenty of out-of-class assignments so it was pretty demanding to keep up with with everything else I had going on, but in the end it was well worth the effort. For $800, I got a professional with a passion for music and skill to boot, and I even did some searching before I signed up with him and he was one of the cheaper ones.
Tips
I would ask people who have used the instructor that you are pursuing, possibly by asking them to speak to one of their clients. You can save hundreds of dollars just by not going with the most expensive instructor who probably cannot devote their time and attention to you like someone who may be on a lower-scale can. Trumpet lessons will help you develop your musicianship, and I strongly encourage them.
