the Price of Trumpet Lessons

One-on-one lesson on the trumpet every week. The $40 was for a 30 minute lesson. In each lesson we would discuss a musical topic and then rehearse it/apply it to music. I had an assigned music example each week to practice in between lessons. In each session, we would warm up for 10 minutes, then I would play the prepared example (10 min) then we would spend time looking at the assignment for next week.

The lessons were very educational. Because it was a one-on-one lesson, we were able to discuss very specific topics relevant to my playing. It helped me to know what to practice during the week, in between lessons as well. The lesson format was helpful to me, and I was comfortable preparing the musical example each week.

I found this instructor through craigslist, but I think you can go to music schools as well. The instructor didn't offer a set curriculum but we discussed topics based on how I was playing. I researched the price, and it seemed that a music school was much more expensive, so while this was not quite as formal, the lesson format worked very well for me.
