Description of service

I prepaid for 6 months of my son's trumpet lessons. The cost for 6 months of weekly classes was $1800. At 60 minutes per lesson, it came down to $75 an hour.

Review of Service

My son decided to take up the trumpet. We wanted to get the absolute best teacher we could find for him. We found, through the local symphony, a profession trumpet player who was willing to give one on one classes to our son. He insisted that we pay for 6 months of lessons up front.

It ended up being a terrible experience. The gentleman who taught him clearly did not have experience dealing with kids. He was very impatient and was not clear on the instructions he was giving to my son. When my son first complained about this I thought he was over reacting. So I asked to sit it on a class. At first the instructor would not allow it but finally he agreed. It turned out my son was right.

We were so unhappy with the lessons that we ended up stopping them after about 2 months. We did not get any of our money back.

Tips

We though that having a professional who worked in the field would be the best option. In retrospect, having an instructor how is good at teaching is just as, if not more, important than a proven expert in the field.
