Description of service
I decided one summer to pick up a second instrument, besides my first, so i asked some brass friends to get me in touch with a local band director who gave me the name of a beginner trumpet teacher. I met with the teacher 3 times over the summer before I couldn't make the lessons because of school and my job, each one was an hour long. The full price was of the lesson was for the lesson itself, and no part of the price was for materials or gratuities.
Review of Service
The person I worked with was used to working with junior high and high school people so working with a college age student was a pleasure for him. He was patient and was able to help me with the basics that I needed to be able to practice on my own. Since I had background in woodwinds, it took a little while to get used to the embouchure for a brass instrument. I really didn't have any problems with this lesson in any way. I felt the price was good because it was cheaper than taking basic brass instruments in college.
Tips
Tips for this? No idea really. You can contact college professors or high school band directors. They know how to find the good private tutors for musical instruments. Also, if this is for a kid, have them rent the instrument until they know they want to play it long term.
