Description of service
I have been taking private voice lessons once per week. I work one on one with a private voice coach in her home. Each lesson is approximately 40 minutes long and I pay her $30. She has a room with a piano, microphone and tape recorder set up for her students. She has a vast array of songs available for beginners and I get to choose which ones I want to learn, with her suggestions as well. We work on one song for 2-3 weeks, depending on the song. I have homework also which consists of listening and practicing with the recording we make in class which is a blank version of the lesson. I am supposed to practice at least 30 minutes at home.
Review of Service
I greatly enjoy these lessons, they are informative and relieve stress. It is hard to concentrate on your problems when you are learning to sing! My teacher has about 15 years experience and mainly teaches adolescents, even though I am an adult. We also have optional recitals about once per quarter where you can invite your friends to hear your progress.
Tips
Be prepared to do your homework! Going to class is great, but doing the homework really makes a difference. Private voice teachers are hard to find. I found mine in an ad in a local suburban paper, and I know that churches are another good place to find voice teachers. Good luck and have fun!
