Description of service
We paid this fee for a month of weekly voice lessons. The lessons were 30-40 minutes long and each week several pieces of homework music was also assigned. The local piano teacher used to teach voice lessons, but had cut back in recent years. She was willing to take on our teen aged daughter because she already reads music and because it was a short term commitment. We ended up going for 2 months. She also threw in some piano to the lesson at times, which thrilled our daughter.
Review of Service
Our daughter decided to spend some of her spare time working on her vocal range and her breath support in order to try out for her school jazz choir, which has won some awards and is difficult to get in to. This was a great use of her time and babysitting money. The short term nature of the agreement suited both our daughter and the teacher, although we would have continued the lessons for a couple more months if the teacher had not been headed out on an extended vacation. We were more than pleased with this partnership and hope to take another month or two of lessons next spring.
Tips
Look for a teacher that can establish a good relationship with your student. It is important for the student to enjoy the lessons and feel like she can voice her opinion and put herself out there and not be put down for any lack of knowledge.
