Description of service
I received vocal lessons for a course of 4 months at a semester of college. I loved every minute of the time I spent, including prep time, lessons and performances. I attended at least one lesson per week at the price of $15 per hour long lesson. On occasion I would attend an extra lesson in a week with another vocalist in which we would prepare and perform multiple part pieces with other vocalists.
Review of Service
I was receiving training from a PhD in music, which is why the cost was $15. Lessons that I have taken with bachelor level musicians were usually around $10. The quality of both levels of instruction was great not because of the level of training but because of the devotion and demeanor of the instructor. I learned different things from each teacher, but both levels were valuable to me during the stages of my musical development.
Tips
Get referrals from friends or local school teachers. Instructors who have had visibly good luck with their pupils is a good indication to their ability to create an enjoyable learning environment. When it comes to music, success is built on enjoyment first and discipline second. Meet with the instructor before starting lessons, it is a good way to get a feel of whether or not your interests in music are similar and if you will work well together.
