Description of service
I'd been acting for years but had never tried to sing. My local school was going to be having try-outs for a musical I really wanted to take place in. I took voice lessons for 1 hour 3 times a week for a total of 1 month. I took them from a graduate student getting a degree in Voice Coaching and paid a total of $450.00 for the month.
Review of Service
This was a great experience. First and foremost it gave me a lot more confidence than I would have had if I'd gone in there with no guidance. Even though my trainer was still in school she was incredibly knowledgeable. She gave me exercises to do at home. She also gave me advice about stage presence and how to project my voice both when speaking and when singing. I didn't get the part but she gave me the confidence and the know-how to feel comfortable trying out for a much wider variety of roles.
Tips
Find a teacher you really click with. A theater tutor or coach isn't like a math tutor where they basically need to just give you information out of a book. You need a theater coach who truly knows how to motivate you.
