Description of service
The massage was $70 and I gave a $10 tip.
I got a 60 minute deep tissue massage at a little spa which is behind a store which sells bath products. I was given a robe and slippers and ushered into a reception room with water, mini-fountains, and soothing music.
Then I was led into a little canvas tent-like room with a massage table. The massage therapist waited until I was ready, lying face down on the massage table, and came in. She used some aromatherapy oils (she let me choose from a variety of scents).
The massage therapist massaged me for an hour, asking me about the pressure and staying quiet with relaxing music the rest of the time.
Review of Service
The atmosphere of the spa was very relaxing. I loved the robe (I wanted to take it home!) and the smells. The massage therapist didn't go as deep as I'd like even though she kept asking and I kept telling her to go deeper. I still had some knots left in my shoulders when she was done, but I was definitely more relaxed.
Tips
Make sure you communicate with your massage therapist before the massage to tell him or her where you need the most attention, and how much pressure you like. This will give the massage therapist an idea of how to proceed. If there is ever any pain or discomfort, make sure you tell the massage therapist right away.
Take into account the atmosphere of the massage office or spa. You will often pay more for a really nice, relaxing atmosphere, and for some people it is worth it. If that doesn't matter to you, then you shouldn't go to a place that charges extra for other services.
