Description of service
I had to declare bankruptcy in November of 2007. I was recommended to a specific lawyer by my personal lawyer. The cost to file was $299 and her fee to help me was $900. She helped me file all forms, deal with stress and accompanied me to all meetings.
Review of Service
In 2006 my now ex-roomate started keeping the mortgage payments I gave her instead of paying them. By the time I found out, she had run away, and the house was in foreclosure. That's what I get for trusting. Anyway, the lawyer I had hired to help me go after her thought I should go to this person to declare bankruptcy. I went to see her and I was terrified as I waited. I had to watch a video and then met with the attorney. She thought I was a good candidate and we began to fill out the forms. It was really easy, because she knew what she was doing. When I left, I had some assignments, and when I finished, we were ready to file. She helped me at every step. She filed the forms, she dealt with me stress and she told me exactly what to expect at each point. I know it cost a lot, but I wouldn't have made it though without her.
Tips
It is much cheaper to file on your own, but you don't usually have the knowledge that the lawyer does. They can help you get everything right so that it goes smoothly, but also help your sanity. Hire a lawyer.
