Description of service
I filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2007. It cost 1200 plus a 300 filling fee for the court. I've heard of people paying less, but I used this firm because they allowed me to make payments on the attorney's fees. I was filed into the courts the same day I paid the filing fee, and then made payments every month using post dated checks. My discharge came 3 months later after my 341 meeting of creditors.
Review of Service
It was stressful, but definitely not worse than dealing with creditors. It's a little impersonal with all of the filings in Ga, but that's the price you pay. I was glad to have a lawyer, because navigating through the legal system can be difficult. I had a hard time getting in touch with my attorney, but in retrospect I may have been impatient because I was so woried.
Tips
Personally, I would use an attorney. Pro Se may be cheaper, but you will cause yourself a major headache. I would also give myself plenty of time for any appointments with the attorney or any court hearings. Recently, the courts have been so busy everything has been delayed. I sat in my attorneys office for 4 hours one day, and the actually meeting with him lasted less than half an hour.
