Description of service
I went to a candle making class in Lawrence Kansas to learn the basics of making candles. I only went to one class, but they offered more. In the first class, they explained different types of candle wax that can be used, as well as the melting points of those particular waxes. They also explained how we could make different things using votive molds, pillar molds, and tealights.
They had a few supplies for us to use, and also offered to sell things such as double boilers, wax, fragrance, pigments, wicks, wick tabs, and molds. Their prices were much more reasonable compared to a hobby store that sells similar products.
They gave us 1 pound of wax to work with, 1 ounce of fragrance, enough pigment to dye 1 pound of wax (but only 1 color), and allowed us to borrow a mold and a double boiler to make our first batch of candles with.
Review of Service
I absolutely enjoyed making candles with this company. I thought that they were extremely professional, and their products were of a great quality. I have thought about going back there to do an advanced candle making class, but I haven't been able to do it yet. I have actually recommended them to a few of my friends and family members, and the ones who went told me that they enjoyed going there as well.
Tips
The tips I would share would be to make sure that you're able to afford the start up of candle making. You can buy the products on the internet or through a wholesaler to make your prices cheaper to start with. If you go to a class, make sure that you find a good class that sells their products wholesale as well.
If you're interested in learning how to make candles, I would definitely recommend you go to a class rather than trying to learn online. I tried to do that, and failed miserably.
