the Cost of BMW Repair

The transmission was replaced with a brand new BMW transmission. The removal and installation of the transmission cost $1000 for 20 hours of work (50/hr). The transmission itself cost $2200 and came with a two year warranty.

Everything was installed and handled very professionally. The time it took for labor was the same as the estimate their computer program came up with before they ever started. This shows that I was not overcharged for labor.

The auto shop was not a certified BMW auto shop. Even though this concerned me at first, there is nothing that was effected in a negative way because of this. The mechanics had a good understanding of all automobiles. I am very happy with the cost and the quality of work.

Make sure to get a good computer estimate of how much labor the job should take before any real work is done on your car. I would also consider asking to see this estimate on the computer if they do not show you.

You don't need to stop with one estimate either. The more estimates you get from different companies; the better your chance to find a lower price. My first estimate was about $1000 more then I ended up paying. I would have really been upset if I hadn't taken the time to look around.
