Description of service
I had a mouth guard custom made by my dentist. The cost for the fitting and the actual mouth guard came to a total of $350. My insurance did not cover any of this.
Review of Service
The mouth guard I got is great. It keeps me from grinding my teeth and has helped to prevent some of the headaches I had. The doctor was also very good while he was fitting me for it. I got it back in less than a week, so I felt the time it took to get made was reasonable.
However, I wasn't prepared for how much it would cost. He told me that it was considered cosmetic by the insurance company and therefore wouldn't be covered by them. He did not, however, tell me just how much it would cost. Luckily, I had the money but I'm sure many people would not have had the money. I think he should have let me know before he actually sent it off to be made.
Tips
Of course with any type of medical treatment, or any service, make sure that you get an estimate on how much it will cost before you get started. You don't want any surprises that could cause long term financial problems for you.
