Description of service
I went in to my dentist's office for a regular checkup, and after he noticed the wear on my teeth and asked me some questions about jaw pain, tension, and headaches, he diagnosed me with night grinding. He took a mold of my teeth using a gummy material, much like my experience with braces. When the mold hardened, he extracted it, sent it off to another corporation, and 10 days later I had a strong mouth guard that fit perfectly. He ground down pieces that bothered me at my followup visit. I paid for the service at one time so I don't know how much my dentist outlaid for shipping and the forming service, but he did include two appointments in the cost. He didn't provide a breakdown.
Review of Service
I had great service while getting my night guard and I was amazed at how my tension headaches actually dissipated. It was a great value for the price because now my spouse actually sleeps better without hearing me grind my teeth. The mold-forming part of the appointment wasn't very comfortable, and I actually felt myself gagging on the mold material, but otherwise, it was painless.
Tips
I would make note of how often you grind your teeth and any tension you have in your neck or jaw in the morning before your next dentist visit. My dentist asked me some questions I wasn't prepared to answer but would have know if I had thought of them before.
