Description of service
Dance lessons for my 4 year old child who was enrolled in a preschool through Florida's Voluntary Pre-K program. The center offered dance lessons for the children once per week for 30 minutes in lieu of play time outdoors for those interested.
Review of Service
The price was right, the lessons did not interfere with evening activities at home, and I did not have to drive my child to lessons since she was taking them during the school day. The end of the year recital was not too impressive in my opinion. However, the teacher did provide costumes (tutus over their practicing leotards and a fancy hair accessory) at not charge. Also, there were no registration fees and the child could enter and exit the class if he or she changed his or her mind during the school year.
Tips
If your purpose in enrolling your child in dance lessons is to expose them to the art, then the level of service provided by the teacher is probably adequate to meet your needs. If, on the other hand, you are planning to help your child launch a career in dance some day, then this may not be the route to take. Additionally, I did not like the fact that my daughter missed out on outside play time to be in the class. I would have preferred that the dance class take place immediately following the school day instead of during the middle of the school day.
