the Price of Dance Lessons for Kids

I have 2 daughters in dance lessons. I pay $1700 per year for the lessons. The girls dance from September through May and have the summer months off. Dancing can start as early as age three by taking only one class per week. As the children get older and gain experience they can add on more classes that include different styles of dance. This particular dance studio offers tap,jazz,ballet,hiphop,acrobatics and musical theater classes. You can choose the amount of classes you wish your children to take, however there must be one offered in the childs ability level. My girls take a total of 9 classes between them both which equals out to approximately $5 per class. However if your child takes only one class it is $37 per month or about $9 per class. The more classes you take the cheaper the additional classes get. The studio only has a total of about 250 students and about 10 different teachers, which enables much individual attention for the girls. The studio is open Monday thru Saturday.

AS a prior competitive dancer myself,I was very particular when looking for a dance studio. A good dance studio will offer several things;

-small dance class size to offer individual attention.

-certified teachers that will teach your children how to correctly dance but more importantly ensures safety.

-a studio that offers the child a chance to either dance just for fun or for the more serious dancer a chance to earn a place on a competition team.

-reasonable prices as compared to other studios in the area.

-a studio that teaches children that dance(exercise) is a part of keeping your body strong and healthy.

-a kind caring environment.

The dance studio my children are at offer all of these things.Although at the end of the year we've spent quite a bit, my children are getting exercise, making friends and love it!

Many people think any dance studio is fine. Just like anything else you get what you pay for. Don't be afraid to do your research, ask question and visit the studio. The sport of dance can be just as dangerous as any other sport. Make sure your child is with certified teachers and staff the ensure their safety.
