Although I have a home delivery service for DVD rentals, I needed to rent one DVD for research for a class so I went to the local rental store.
Review of Service
Aside from new releases, there were not very many movies to choose from. Getting the movies back by 9pm the following night was very irritating to me as well. Next time I will plan ahead and make sure I have time to order it for home delivery or see if the free standing box type rental place in the neighboring town has a copy. $4 for one night is way too much, in my opinion. On the plus side, I know I can call ahead and have a copy of a movie waiting for me if it's in stock.
Tips
For the best prices, choose an online rental company or one of the free standing box type DVD rental places that are inside or just outside of certain store chains. Having just new movies to choose from means that you overlook many older ones that are just as good. It also means that if a movie is extremely popular, you will definitely have to wait until its popularity subsides before you have a good chance at getting it.
