Description of service
I took a 2 day a week jazz class that lasted 8 weeks. The classes lasted 1.5 hours each and were for any beginner over the age of 18 at a local community center. The classes had 15 - 20 students each session and always started promptly at 7:30.
Review of Service
The teacher was well trained in dance and a fantastic teacher. She was patient and kind, even with those of us that we uncoordinated and only picked up enough steps to not fall on our faces. The room was always clean and ready for us to use and the teacher was always on time. Every morning she would review the new steps we were going to learn as well as how to chain those steps to other steps. She would also show us variations on the steps and sometimes videos of the steps being used on shows like Dancing Like the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
Tips
I would suggest that when starting a dance class, especially if you've never taken one before, as I had not. I would suggest finding a community center or YMCA/YWCA that offers classes at a lower cost than tradiional dance studios so that you can first find out if you're interested in a specific dance style. I enjoyed this beginner's class so much that i may take another in the fall.
