Description of service
I'm enrolled in 8 classes of an intermediate clarinetists class at a school here. It's an ensemble class so it breaks down into some playing together, some listening, and some performance. The instructor assures me that intermediate and advanced students will be separated so the lessons will be suited to each experience level.
Review of Service
I like the idea that this isn't just a one on one series of lessons, I feel I'll get more for my money by being able to hear and play along with more advanced players. The ensemble is actually why I signed up for this specifically. Other places around town offer lessons for less money but that concept of being in a crowd of musicians was the selling point. So this maybe isn't the best value up front but comes out to a great deal if you add in the contact with other clarinetists.
Tips
I'm hoping that the class will ultimately lead to being able to practice with others in a group. I think the best thing to do when looking for lessons such as these is to query music programs through local schools. You can find music lessons for less in the classifieds but the ultimate value of the lesson is in the interaction and a school can do that for you best.
