Description of service
My daughter has been taking lesson from a private teacher once a week after school. She is 12 years old and has been taking lesson from the same teacher for over four years. She attends lessons during the school year and is off in the summer. Her lessons recently jumped from $75 per lesson to $100 per lesson and her lesson are held in the home of her teacher in her "music room". The lessons usually last anywhere from one hour to one and a half hours depending on how fast she catches on to a piece of music.
Review of Service
I have been very pleased with how my daughter has progressed in her musical ability and her skills at playing the clarinet. Her school does not have a music program and I think it is very important that she have a well rounded background which includes music. Her teacher is wonderful and gives her a lot of individual attention even though she takes lessons with another boy. And her teacher will not let her leave until she feels my daughter has accomplished her goals for the day. The only down side to having a private teacher who isn't affiliated with a music school is that there are no recitals and nothing for the children to work towards or look forward to.
Tips
Some advice I can offer is to interview a number of different teachers and schools with your child. Find out about their work ethic and if you need to be present during the lesson. Also make sure your child feels comfortable being left alone with whichever teacher you choose.
