Description of service
I started taking beginning clarinet lessons again because I had forgotten since I was a child. Extensive lessons from beginners to very advanced. Lessons begin with learning to read music if you don't know how, and teaches how to properly make noise come from the clarinet. More advanced lessons teach classical and jazz.
Review of Service
The service was okay. I had taken clarinet lessons for years when I was a child, and had stopped playing for a really long time. When we moved into our house, I found my old clarinet, and thought I would like to give it another whirl. I had forgotten how to read music, and couldn't get my clarinet to do anything but screech. I was able to re-learn some technique. I didn't learn anything new when I went to the lesson, and I only went one because I wasn't impressed. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fantastic, either. It was only half an hour long, which was fine with me because at the end of the first ten minutes I was ready to leave. The teacher was kind of creepy, and I felt like an old fool being there. It has been, after all, twenty years since I last packed up my clarinet. Much of my old skills were gone.
Tips
If you have had your horn packed away for a long time, buy new reeds. I had forgotten they dry out and split. Also, it could probably benefit from a good cleaning. Check the pads to be sure they don't stick before you take lessons, also. There are plenty of music stores that will tune up old instruments for minimal costs.
