Description of service
We enrolled my daughter in flute lessons with a local Dance studio. It might seem strange to not have done this at a music studio, but a lot of the larger dance studios now accommodate music and vocal lessons as well as dance. She goes once a week for a 30 minute private lesson. They teach music reading and how that relates to playing the flute. There are two recitals a year and she can opt to be in them if she chooses. This gives her a great balance between practice and performance. This makes her a better player since she gets to play with other musicians and exchange ideas. She has been taking these lessons for about six months now and we pay for the service monthly. After the performances we usually get together with other parents and present the teacher with a gift certificate as a show of appreciation for the recital. This is not mandatory, but is customary for the school and parents are free to choose to participate. She also has the option of taking another type of instrument lesson at the school at a discount. They also offer discounts for trips they take to New York for the students to attend concerts there as well.
Review of Service
I am very pleased with the service and have actually recommended it to a few friends that take their kids there now. The staff is great and very accommodating. They have a wide variety of lessons available and can offer classes to all ages. I actually have the option of taking a class with one of my kids if I want.
Tips
When looking for a great place to enroll your child in music lessons, look beyond the traditional venues like music stores or ?in home? lessons. There are a lot of places that you can get a great one on one lesson at a reasonable price with a ton of other advantages like recitals. Also, be sure to speak to others that are using the school before you commit. We spoke to several parents before making our final decision and are very happy with our choice.
