This was a half hour lesson with a flute instructor. The fee was a flat fee rate and included tax. The instructor used the theory books on hand but would recommend buying at least one additional theory book for $20.00.

The flute instructor has a bachelor's degree in Flute and a Masters in Flute. She has taught flute lesson for over ten years.

The lessons were designed for intermediate and advance flute players; most students were senior high school students or college students.

The 15 to 20 minute warm up was done in a practice room before the lesson. The instructor focused on 20 minutes of theory and 10 minutes of impromptu playing.

The instructor was extremely beneficial for flute players who wish to improve on their playing. The instructor is tough and will kick out students who do not practice, but the quality of teaching is excellent. The instructor will work with the student to improve any lagging technique, such as fingering or tonguing. You really could see an improvement in concert and solo playing after studying with the instructor for only six months.

The price is on the high side, but if you are playing for school or wish to significantly improve your playing this is the price.

This type of service is not for someone who wants to learn to play the flute as a beginner. Look for someone who is recommended by a conductor or music store, not someone who placed an ad in the weekly buyer?s guide.
