Description of service
While at mooring, another boat broke loose and ran into the bow of my boat. The owner of the other boat contacted me and we agreed that I would have it repaired at the place of my choice and it would be billed directly to his insurnce company. I received a letter from his insurance agent confirming the payment arrangements. The payment was to cover labor and materials, and the repair facility testing the boat on the water. Pictures were taken by my insurance company of the damage.
Review of Service
The repair work was done in a very professional manner. I was kept informed as to the progress of the repairs and sent pictures of the work being performed. I did make one trip to view first-hand the repairs. Although the work took longer than estimated, I understood that the materials and workmanship had to be scheduled along with their other work.
The quality of their repair work was outstanding and under the reputation of the facility and how busy they were, it was done in a reasonable amount of time. They also were willing to accept payment from the insurance company with no cash required from me.
Tips
If involved in a repair service, with or without insurance involvement, make sure that you keep detailed records and pictures of the damage. Get the insurance information in writing from both your insurance company and if another insurance comapany is involved, from that commpany. Keep in contact with the repair facility.
Remember, you have the right to choose the repair facility.
I was glad that I had good insurance and knew the location of my policy.
