Review of Service
The service was good. I have had several moles removed over the past few years, and each time I go, it gets easier. This time the mole removed was on my lower abdomen, and while it seems scary, it is not so bad. The worst part was the injections of the novocaine around the affected area, and the smell of the cauterizing afterwards. The dermatologist was extremely gentle and comforting regarding the procedure, and I will continue to see her yearly for my mole screenings, and will only go to her when I need to have a mole removed and biopsied.
Tips
If you are a very moley person, find a dermatologist who you are very comfortable with. You will need to have an open dialog and a good rapport with your dermatologist if you want to get the best possible care for your skin. Skin cancer is not something to play around with, and if you see your dermatologist regularly for screenings, you can generally catch any problems before they become something major and traumatic. Before you have a mole removed, try to take some tylenol (not ibuprofen because of bleeding...), because after the wound is cauterized and/or stitched, and the novocaine wears off, it may be a little sore.
