Description of service
After never having any moles on my feet, I suddenly felt one growing on the underside of my middle toe. It was really hard to see, but with a mirror I saw that it was round in shape and black/brown in color. I went to my family doctor to have her check it out. She told me that it was a combination of a mole that I probably never noticed with a "seed" wart and would need to be removed as it would continue to grow until I would have difficulty walking and pain. Because it was a wart and a mole in the same area/skin section, she chose to use a topical acid solution that would take two weeks to complete the removal. I was given my first dose of the topical acid in her office. She showed me how to take a prescription gel and surround the mole/wart with the gel, apply the topical acid solution to the top of the mole/wart only, and then wrap the toe completely in scotch tape. I did this for two weeks every day at home. At the end of the 2nd week, the mole/wart came off on its own when I removed the tape before showering one day. I went in for my exam a few days later and got the all clear from my doctor. The price included two office visits and the medication.
Review of Service
I was really scared when I saw that black/brown mole on my toe. My family doctor soothed my nerves and healed my toe with her treatment suggestion. It was a painless removal and did not involve any knives/blades of any kind and I am thankful for that. I do not know why she did not remove it the same way she removed the moles on my back, but I am guessing it had to do with fact we were dealing with a combination mole and wart. I would recommend this doctor to anyone and this treatment to anyone. Its not really comfortable to sleep with scotch tape on your toe, but its better than having the mole cut off.
Tips
If you are unsure why your doctor is recommending a certain treatment, ask. I wish I would have asked why she did not just cut it off but instead chose a topical acid treatment. Also, if you find something like this, definitely go and see your doctor. With it growing so suddenly and quickly, I feared it was something more serious than just a mole/wart. You can never been too safe when it comes to your health.
