Review of Service
The mole removal went smoothly, though it took much longer than I anticipated it would take. The actual removal was not painful as it was pretty well numbed with novocaine before the procedure. The stitching of the site was also not very painful, but it was irritating, and I started to become slightly light-headed. There was no follow-up, and I was advised I could remove my stitches myself after about two weeks. I was sent home with instructions regarding wound-care, keeping the stitches covered for a few days after the procedure, and keeping it moist with antibiotic ointment. After the first two days, I could remove the dressing, and do normal things.
Tips
If you are light-headed about this kind of procedure, have somebody drive you. It is also more painful after the numbing agent wears off than most would think. It was irritating and uncomfortable. If it is in an awkward location (mine was on my bicep), you will have to be careful about how much you lift so you don't break stitches--in my case I have a baby who I was having to lift up all the time--it made things uncomfortable. Get to know what you can about the follow-up care and any restrictions before you have the mole removed. Also be prepared for what kind of outcome it may have--mine was a melanoma in situ, which is kind of frightening, but the most easily treatable of the melanomas.
