Description of service
I decided to have a tubal ligation after the birth of my second daughter. Without insurance the total cost was $11,000.00 for the outpatient procedure. I had to be a the hospital early that morning and was put to sleep or the procedure. They made two small incisions and tied my tubes. When I woke up that afternoon I was given pain medication and allowed to rest until I felt like I could go home. I had to return to the doctor two weeks after the surgery to make sure all was well and that the stitches dissolved on their own. The hospital worked out a payment plan for the procedure and the anesthesiologist was paid separately.
Review of Service
The service was great. The doctors and nurses answered all my questions. The staff did not rush me as I woke up and allowed me to leave only when I was sure that I was ready. I had a good experience with the surgery. There were no complications and it was worth the money.
Tips
Talk to your doctor and hospital administrators about payment plans if you don't have insurance. Also, find out who has to be paid separately. If you have insurance, make sure that a procedure is covered because tubal ligation can be considered elective surgery.
