Description of service
A epidural medication (temporary paralysis of the lower body) is given and for the most part you will remain awake. The fallopian tubes will either be tied in a knot, cut and the ends burned to avoid reconnection, or the tubes cut, burned then knotted for full assurance. I went for the "if you're going to do it, do it right" method of all three. However, this is the most difficult of the three to undo. Choose wisely.
Review of Service
I was not sure what to expect, I had mine done directly after the C-section for my son. I had no complications was up and walking as soon as the epidural wore off, maybe 15 minutes after they brought me into the room. There is very little pain associated for days afterwards because the epidural is a pain blocker that continues even after feeling returns to your legs.
Tips
This surgery was not an all out go ahead for unprotected sex as some have portrayed it to be. It is a decision that needs to be consented if you are married by your significant other. There needs to be serious consideration to the fact that if you do not want any more children with the person you are with, what if you are not with that person forever? You next spouse may not have children and want a child of his own. This can and has been a deal breaker in many otherwise perfect relationships. Sex with unprotected partners still leaves you at risk for STD's regardless of this surgery. Merely an avenue to insure no more children are born to this woman, the surgery can SOMETIMES be reversed but is as costly as in-vitro fertilization and never guaranteed. As with all surgeries there is a risk for scar tissue which can be painful and permanent.
