In 2007 I moved two containers of furniture and household goods from California to Michigan. This was the type of service where the company delivered two pods to our home, sat them at a designated area at our house for two days before the move, and we packed all the items ourselves. The company had a website with a great deal of information about the service and how to pack goods. The representatives of the company were very helpful and professional. We took a good deal of time to carefully pack and tie our furniture and items in place in the pods, utilizing all the space all the way to the top. We followed the instructions on the website and left no room for items to move around. We placed our own locks on the containers when we were finished packing, called the company as instructed, and left for our own drive to Michigan with the containers to be picked up the next morning. The containers were lifted with a special piece of equipment onto a flatbed truck, then placed on a train to Michigan! When we arrived a week later, we called the company, who delivered the containers as promised. The locks were intact, and so was all of our furniture and belongings.

This was an excellent and professional service. It is less expensive than a moving van, although more work because we packed the goods ourselves. I definitely recommend this type of moving service for anyone who is able to pack his/her own furniture and goods and who is looking for a good moving values.

Look at the information on the website for packing tips. Also, be sure to have the keys or combinations to the padlocks you place on the pods when you reach your destination! (Otherwise, you must cut off the locks! Guess why I know this?!)
