Description of service
I moved from Florida to the Washington Peninsula. My belongings were packed and in a storage space in Florida. I needed movers that would pick up my belongings and bring them to Washington state. After calling local services, I started looking on the Internet for reasonable movers. I finally found one which was reputable and reasonably priced. I was to pay one third upon signing a contract, the next third when they picked up the items and the final payment at delivery. At deliver I also gave the movers a good tip of $100 each ($300).
Review of Service
It took three weeks for the movers to deliver my belongings. I had no problem with this and they arrived in fairly good time. After delivering my things, they left and I started unpacking. It was then that I discovered missing items. I don't believe they were stolen but believe someone else who had items to be delivered on the same truck received my stuff. I called right away but never got a person just the answering machine. I was persistent and after a good month finally got a person who told me the company had gone out of business, After calling around, there was very little I could do other than bite the bullet.
Tips
I believe I came through fairly lucky compared to some horror stories on moving. A piece of advice, thoroughly check out a company. Find out how long they have been in business. Check for complaints or actions against them. Upon delivery do not sign off or pay until you are sure you have everything delivered.
