Description of service
I had an myomectomy in this upscale university-hospital which required me to be confined for observation for 2-3 days. While my insurance only pays for a shared room, I was upgraded by my doctor to a single room. My bill showed a daily rate for single occupant at $1200.00 In another hospital, a shared room would cost $800.00 a day. Taxes are all included, I assume, but my insurance paid for it. The stay included meals. My tests and bloodwork and medications have been charged separately.
Review of Service
The facilities are well-kept, state-of-the-art. The room was quiet as I was alone. The nurses came in to check on me almost every couple of hours and my doctor visited me every morning. I felt well-cared for and the compassionate nurses were always ready to help. My comfort was of utmost importance and they even made sure that my fiance was given a couch to sleep on, in case he wanted to stay the night. I can't say that there was anything bad with the service or facilities. I would say if I can afford it, the hospital stay would have been a great value for the money.
Tips
Get a good health insurance company. I can't imagine being able to pay for this service without insurance, but there are hospitals in the area which are cheaper.
