Description of service
They took my blood sugar, figured out it was critically low. Immediately gave a glucose tablet and hooked up to IV fluids. Monitored my blood level every 2 hours, took chest xray and consulted with your primary doctor via phone. Doctor instructed to have patient stay the night in the hospital, for what they call a 23 hour stay, cheaper than actually getting admitted longer for those who have no insurance. Kept track of all vitals and monitored all carbs in every thing Iate. Total cost of stay was 7500 dollars, some of the doctors actually donate their time, so you don't get a separate doctor bill, you only receive the er bill for the cost of the testing, xray and overnight stay.
Review of Service
The service was actually very good. Felt that I was treated just as well as if I had great insurance. Some hospitals are not all about the money, they actually care about the people, which you generally do not see much of that anymore.
Tips
Usually a hospital well known will give you the treatment you deserve, if it's not life or death, going to a hospital that is well known is worth it, I can't speak for the smaller hospitals, so I have no advice on those.
