the Price of an Oil Change

This price included a basic oil change (including - oil, oil filter, oil disposal fee, and labor). The price didn't include the air filter. The work was performed in under 30 minutes and was performed where I could view what was going on during the entire work process.

The oil change was fast and reliable, taking about 20 minutes as I went during a non-busy period. I don't think that I could have gotten the supplies and gotten set up to do the oil change in the amount of time that it took to drive into the bay at the oil change place, and have the work done. So the time savings alone were well worth the cost, that doesn't include the cost of the actual oil, oil filter, and oil disposal which I would have incurred had I done it myself. You occasionally do have to insure that the oil cap is replaced, as it is possible for the mechanics to leave things lose when they finish their work.

Of course you don't get the satisfaction of doing the job yourself, getting dirty, spending quality time teaching the kids how to change oil. Make sure that the place you are going to has a reputation for doing the job right and has some sort of guarantee about their work. Additionally, go ahead and get an air filter for your car (from a store before you go in for the oil change). As soon as the oil change is performed and your car is ready for you, pull out into the parking lot and change the air filter (this gives you a chance to insure that the oil cap is properly replaced and insures that your car has just completed its basic maintenance).
