the Price of Christmas Portraits

$140 was the total for our sitting fee, and for five 8x10 prints, ten 4x6 prints, and twenty wallets. The studio we got our pictures done at was having a Christmas special package deal, so we went in during an afternoon and got them done. They took our pictures, then showed us proofs on the computer right there, and gave us options about what pictures we wanted, any effects or retouching we wanted, then got our order.

I think it was a pretty good price for the quality of the pictures and for the volume of pictures we received, but the setup was only a little better than, say, school pictures or Christmas pictures in a department store. There were other people there waiting in line, so we waited a while, and the atmosphere was kind of... not so wonderful. But they did have the process streamlined, so we got everything done really, really fast, and our pictures arrived quickly as well.

Definitely be on the lookout for sales or promotions! Read the newspaper, look for ads on boards around town. I was looking for a good price, and I know I got one - you just have to shop around and have sharp eyes.
